How to make Rosewater at Home?

 


We are all aware of the fact that Rosewater is very beneficial for our skin and is popularly used in some food recipes and also treats many health issues.

But, do you know? you can make rose water at your home, which is as easy as boiling water over the gas.

Yes, you heard it right! Before that, we will be discussing the benefits of the rose water so you would know why you should try making rose water at home.

The first benefit of rose water is that it helps soothe the irritated skin and cures redness and burning of skin as it has antioxidant properties. There are studies that say that it helps in curing sore throat. It also helps in preventing and treating infection or skin allergies with the antiseptic properties present in them.

Another benefit is that it helps relieve stress and headache and also has anti-ageing properties which help you reduce wrinkles and fine lines. It is popularly used as a toner and a beauty product before applying makeup.

Rosewater is popularly made in 2 popular ways so you can choose the one that you feel goes fine with you.

1. The Simmering Method

Take a bunch of 7-8 roses and about 1.5 litres of water which is distilled (water that has no impurities).

·       Plug out all the petals of each rose and wash them under clean and Luke warm water.

·       After you have washed the petals thoroughly, pour all the petals in a huge utensil and fill it with distilled water. Make sure you cover all the petals with the water.

·       Keep it on a low-medium flame for 15-20 minutes until you see the red colour of the rose petals coming off from them.

·       Strain out all the liquid from the vessel and remove all the petals from it.

Store it in a container of your choice, you can store it in a spray bottle and use it as a toner or makeup fixer.

2. The Distilling Method

You will need 5 cups of rose petals, distilled water, ice cubes, stone, glass bowl, glass jar.

·       Take a huge Pot and place the brick in the middle of the utensil and keep the glass bowl on top of the stone. (The glass bowl that could tolerate heat)

·       Pour all the rose petals around the glass bowl and not inside the bowl.

·       Pour the distilled water and cover the petals with the water.

·       Cover the pot with a lid and place ice cubes on top of the lid which will help the collect the steam on the surface of the lid.

·       Boil all the ingredients for 20-30 minutes and let it cool for some time.

This can be stored for a period of 6 months when stored in a refrigerator.

You can also add olive for best results or any essential oil of your choice to make your skincare routine more effective.

Spray it on your face, Include it in your drink, use it as an ingredient in your favourite dish and do your thing by making rosewater at home and use for multi-purposes.
